Making Plans & God's Will

Ever had that nagging feeling that the plans you just made were not
what the Lord wanted. You don't hear an audible voice or know for
sure but you have that lack of peace down deep that you can't deny.
Planning events for our college group can sometimes be one of the
more stressful things that I do, I want to do what God wants and
sometimes I find myself wondering if what I chose was the right
thing. I was thinking about this recently and came across a great
quote that is really helping me out and hopefully it will for you as well.

"As a general rule, we should say that where the glory of Christ is the exclusive object of any act to which we feel led, we may conclude that it is the Spirit who moves us. The Lord is so gracious that we can fully count upon Him to guide and keep and use us where the heart is simple." C.H. MacIntosh
I am amazed how quickly I forget some of the most simple things in
life. Jesus said that the #1 priority for us should be to seek first the
kingdom of God and He will provide everything we need.
(Matthew 6:25-34) That is where that true peace that we all long
for is found. It is also where direction is found for life, God loves to
direct our steps. When our goal is correct when can have total
confidence that God will lead and provide everything we need.
You can also check out Psalm 37 for more on God's leading.

The Dangers of Drifting

I have been thinking about the topic b/c of the Hebrews study the other night and the warning in Ch.2 I also read the story behind the hymn Come Thou Fount written by Robert Robinson who after he wrote it drifted until he was on a train one day and a lady sitting next to him was reading the lyrics and asked him what he thought the writer meant. Obviously totally convicted he realized his error and returned to the Lord, the famous line meaning all the more,
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love.
Here's my heart Lord take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy Courts Above.
We all have at one time or another sensed that same thing inside of us but God is so gracious and even when we stray he loves nothing more than when we return. That is the passion behind what David is saying in Psalm 119, knowing God and knowing himself he says;
33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes,And I shall keep it to the end.34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.35 Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,For I delight in it.36 Incline my heart to Your testimonies,And not to covetousness.37 Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,And revive me in [fn1] Your way.38 Establish Your word to Your servant,Who is devoted to fearing You.39 Turn away my reproach which I dread,For Your judgments are good.40 Behold, I long for Your precepts;Revive me in Your righteousness.

He Giveth More Grace.. .

He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials he multiplies peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
